Vlogging is more entertaining than blogging! Now I am a Youtuber...

Vlogging is more entertaining than blogging – I changed my scene… Yup! What I mean is that I usually wrote a lot before but now I can’t hold back anymore. I needed to talk and walk at the same time and record it. A lot of my blog posts are now actually video vlogs instead. As I think video makes more of a presence and feels better to interact with my viewers.

What platform should I use? Youtube or Facebook…

I started to use youtube some years back on my company channel youtube.com/macgeni and after some time I started my own private channel and removed irrelevant videos and just started uploading vlog videos. My goal is to make more videos with inspirational content or just my advise.

Why should I be interesting in a video?

I thought about this a lot as I feel I am a private person. But as I follow others like Peter McKinnon, Cody Wanner and Casey Neistat I started to feel that it doesn’t matter who you are. If I can inspire just 1 person – that will make me very satisfied. And I also have a lot of knowhow because of my interest for photography and video in my company barnerdesign.com I knew my interest will fuel my passion for creative creation.

I find that everyone is interesting if you find the time for them to find that something in them or their passion! I really enjoy people talt about their passions – and I love talking about my own and giving out good advice.

With that in mind I am not worried and after filming for a year though only releasing about 5-6 videos.

Editing videos – just takes a lot of time!

Perfectionists are impossible – and I am one… It just takes time to cut, edit, soundedit and color correct and much much more… Wow! I knew this before but now it seems I have just gotten better at making videos but that also takes me more time. I recommend keeping a schedule of when to upload. But I don’t have a lot of subscribers just yet. Maybe it will never happen – but I guess I am fine with it. As long as one person or more feels inspired.

What language should I speak!?

Yes I am a dane and I speak Danish as all other Danes in Denmark. But I can see on my MacGeni Channel on youtube that my English videos perform way better and the respons is just awesome. We as Danes do not ‘like’ things that much on social media it seems. We are not a very outgoing people – we tend to think “don’t think you are better than me!” which is a typical feeling many Danes will have. And I don’t care for it… So: I decided to speak English in my videos and yes that also makes me edit more video where I cut out all the mistakes haha!

Where you can see my video logs (vlogs)?

It would make me so happy to hear what you think of my videos? What type of content is entertaining you? Do you have favourite youtubers you would recommend? Please comment here on my blog or on one of my videos.

Can’t wait to hear what you like…?

Google Material design principles video – only for design nerds!

27 Jun

Google had an event and a talk about “Material design principles”. Though very nerdy I thought it was very interesting thus it’s also what I do in my ComputerArts.dk company – I love working with design and arguing about why we choose to use the design we chose is a very interesting debate.

This is basically mostly interesting for other designers working with usability and UX design and passionated people who work with the analysis and psychology of design and functionality.

About the video Material design principles:

Matias Duarte, Nicholas Jitkoff, Jonathan Lee, Christian Robertson, Jon Wiley all talked about Material design in this video.

Design is the art of considered creation. As designers, our goal is to satisfy the diverse spectrum of human needs. As those needs evolve, so too must our designs, practices, and philosophies.

We challenged ourselves to create a visual language for our users that synthesizes the classic principles of good design with the innovation and possibility of technology and science. The result is material design: a cross-platform design system grounded in tactile reality, inspired by our study of paper and ink, yet open to imagination and magic.

In this session, design leads across Google discuss the key principles of material design, and set the stage for the later sessions focusing on interaction, motion and visual design.
